KARA JENELLE "KJ" is a professional dancer and teaching artist based in Los Angeles, CA. Born in North Carolina and bred by Washington, DC she has worked from coast to coast as an independent artist as well as a resident choreographer for multiple studios and universities.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has been traveling the world performing and teaching ever since! Her educational credits also include NC A&T and the University of Cape Town, South Africa where she studied abroad.
KJ is a force on the stage which has led her to dance for Lauryn Hill, Pharrell Williams, Jidenna, Wiz Kid, Will Smith, Fantasia, Lil Jon, BET, and more. Along with dancing in award shows, concerts, and music videos; she is also an international teaching artist and choreographer. She is currently a faculty member of Ladies of Hip Hop Festival as well as a sub at the world renowned Debbie Reynolds & Millennium Dance Complex.
Dance has been a pivotal tool which has afforded her to travel the world and live out her dreams to the fullest. You can also catch her vibes all over YouTube through her concept videos featuring African & Dancehall styles. She confidently embraces her culture and shares the love of her heritage through movement and energy which cannot be denied.
As far as being a leader, KJ is also the proud founder of Delta Chi Xi Honorary Dance Fraternity, Inc. where she gives back to collegiate students in dance. Through scholarships and training she has created a non-profit professional fraternity to enhance the opportunities for young artists in the field of dance.
